The thought of a boudoir session can be scary. When talking to women about their session during our consults, I get asked all kinds of questions. So I wanted to compile a list of my 12 most frequently asked questions to give you some insight on preparing for a boudoir photography session with me!
Do you share my images?
The number one priority in making sure my clients are comfortable is privacy! It can be a life changing experience, but that also makes it nerve wracking. Sometimes, you are learning to love your body and you aren’t quite ready to share the images with the world, or sometimes these images are specifically for your spouse and aren’t for anyone else eyes. These are all great reasons for not sharing your photos, and it all depends on your personal preferences! I have a multi level model release my clients can sign – only if they want to!
Do I have to wear lingerie?
You definitely do not have to specifically wear lingerie, it all depends on your personality! There are a BUNCH of other outfit ideas other than lacy little things! After all, a woman can be sensual even in a pair of jeans, a bodysuit, or even the oversized sweater with her clavicles and a shoulder peaking through. After we finalize your booking, I will send you a very thorough prep guide and help you figure out all of your outfits. Plus, you will get access to our beautiful client closet full of things for every body and every style.
Do you have payment plans?
Yes! I offer in house – interest free pre payments to all my clients! I book up to 12 months out so there is plenty of time to plan for your dream shoot and get everything you want! Click here to contact me and get more information.
Is hair and makeup included?
Hair and makeup is included in every boudoir session! I think it’s really important for you to look and feel your best and having a professional do this for you is one of the best ways to take the pressure off you and let you ease into amazing! We can do any look that you are going for whether that be “full glam” or a more scaled back no-makeup look and anything in between. You can bring photos and ideas for inspiration and we create something you will love! My Fabulous makeup artist (the beauty rocking that sweater up above) is really amazing at what she does. I promise you, you will not look like you are about to attend a prom as your sister's bridesmaid. We ensure that every look we create, from glam to barely there, will look TIMELESS when you look at your photographs on your 80th birthday.
Do you photoshop my images?
Yes I do! I do full retouching on your images. Even if you have the most perfect skin on earth… it can still look splotchy on camera, so I do full color correction and smoothing. I can also fix little imperfections as well. I will not, however, make you lose 30 pounds by majorly modifying the body you have like they do on social media. And that is not what this experience is about anyways… we are learning to love ourselves. Most things we don’t like about ourselves can be corrected with awesome lighting, posing and angles. You might become a proficient poser when you are done with your shoot. You will know all my secrets :)
Where should I buy my outfits?
There are tons of places to buy outfits from. It all depends on what type of outfit you are getting and the style of your shoot. You can always rely on my Client Closet filled with lingerie, gowns, and body jewelry. I also curated my own store LULU around my clients, where you can find unique pieces that I collected for you from around the world. If all else fails, here is a list to choose from with different styles and sizing. Victoria’s Secret, Adoreme.com, Torrid (amazing for larger sizes!), Hip and Curves, Fleur du Mal, and Bare Necessities. There are also a lot more places and I am happy to share more during the booking process!
What type of print products do you offer for boudoir photography?
I offer top of the line products to keep your images in! Every collection comes with a custom handmade album. I also offer metal prints, folio boxes, lose prints and so much more! I 1000% believe in printing your photos for you to enjoy forever as opposed to your images just living and dying on a screen.
Do you offer digitals?
While I firmly believe in the power of printed images… I also can’t imagine NOT having digital images… so yes, I defiantly do. Most of our packages already come with digitals. And you also choose digital bundles from our A La Carte list.
I am freaking out!!! How can I calm my nerves?
I get it! Most women are nervous before coming in to the studio! It is part of the experience and very few people on earth wouldn’t be nervous. I promise, you will go from being nervous, to comfortable, to confident by the time you leave! every woman who walks out of my studio says they don't know what they were so cared of. They walk out feeling 6 inches taller sporting a new pair of imaginary wings.
How many outfits should I bring?
During your shoot, You will get through at least 4 outfit/set changes. They may or may not include a plain white sheet for those implied nudes. I always say bring all your favorite pieces and if need be, we borrow the rest from the Client Closet. During your shoot, we will put it all together, and I will help you decide on final outfit choices based on your body type and what will photograph well.
Should I arrive early?
No please don’t. We have the entire day blocked out for you and you will have our full attention, but we will not be ready for you until your schedules time (insert heart emoticon).
Where is your studio located?
Our Boudoir studio is located in a private space in La Jolla . Conveniently located between south San Diego and North County. I am very honored that women travel from all over Southern California to visit me!
